BAXI Manresa players confirm good physical condition in CIMETIR medical check-ups

The players of the BAXI Manresa first team are starting to prepare for the start of the new season. This Tuesday and Wednesday, a large part of the squad underwent medical check-ups at CIMETIR, the Comprehensive Sports Medicine, Traumatology and Rehabilitation Centre at Clínica Sant Josep. It was a medical check-up supervised by professionals specialized in sports medicine that confirmed the good physical condition and health of the players.

“This check-up is essential, to start the season both the medical team and the club must ensure that the players arrive well”, said Dani Pérez after the check-up, who is still “excited” about his sixth season with BAXI Manresa.

In addition to Dani Pérez, other players who are returning to the first team have passed the medical exam, such as Álex Reyes and Retin Obasohan. New additions such as Hugo Benítez, Grant Golden and Agustin Ubal have also confirmed their good condition. In the coming days, the rest of the members of the dressing room will undergo the check-ups.

The sports medical check-ups include an anthropometric study, spirometry and stress tests to determine and assess the good physical condition of the players.

Collaboration agreement
These pre-season checks carried out at CIMETIR are part of the collaboration agreement between the Althaia Foundation and Bàsquet Manresa. As a result of this agreement, Althaia, through the expert professionals in sports medicine at Clínica Sant Josep, also assumes responsibility for medical services throughout the season.

Functional assessments by the Comprehensive Sports Readaptation Unit
The medical check-ups have also included functional tests and trials carried out by professionals from the Comprehensive Sports Readaptation Unit at Clínica Sant Josep at the Nou Congost facilities. The assessments have allowed us to objectively measure strength and functionality parameters to know the baseline state of each player at the start of the season and thus assess possible asymmetries.

To be able to carry out these assessments, the Unit has innovative technology, which includes three machines with different functions. This has allowed obtaining a lot of data from the players to assess, in a very reliable and precise way, the strength, movement and balance in a wide variety of exercises and jumps.

This type of analysis also allows the analysis and control in real time of the sports performance of each player and possible readaptation processes. This means that the technical team can then establish individual and personalized strategies for each player that should contribute to improving their sporting performance and preventing possible injuries.
