Brancou Badio and Travante Williams are looking for a place in the pre-Olympics
The Senegalese competes with his national team in the African qualifying tournament, which is played from August 14 to 20 in Lagos (Nigeria), while the Portuguese takes part in one of the European competitions, from the 12 to the 20 of the same month in Poland and Estonia
The BAXI Manresa player Brancou Badio is one of the players called up by the Senegal team, which is competing in the African pre-Olympic qualifying tournament, which will be played from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 August in Lagos (Nigeria). For his part, the new signing Travante Williams takes part in one of the two European competitions, which takes place from Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 August in Poland and Estonia.
These competitions have been launched this year, and the best countries that did not get the ticket to the World Cup in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia participate in them. In addition to the tournament in Africa and the two in Europe, there is one more in America and one in Asia. In most of them the participants will be divided into two groups of four teams, and the two best will go to the semi-finals. The five winners will get the ticket to compete in the pre-Olympic.
Six teams are taking part in Lagos, after the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda announced their decision not to travel to Nigeria. Senegal are in Group A along with hosts Mali. On the other hand, group B includes Cameroon, Guinea and Tunisia. In the European tournament in Poland and Estonia, Portugal is in Group B, with Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary.
