BAXI Manresa will face Gran Canaria, who are looking to secure their survival
The Reds visit the court of a team that needs a victory to ensure their stay and not have to wait until the last day. Olinde will not travel, due to discomfort.
Another match against a team desperate to avoid relegation. This time, BAXI Manresa travels to Gran Canaria, where the team coached by 'Che' García needs a win to avoid a relegation battle on the final matchday. Manresa will be without Benitez (long-term injury) and Olinde.
BAXI Manresa plays its penultimate league game on a familiar court. Diego Ocampo's team aims to compete and finish in a good position after these two matches. The team showed strength in their last league game at Nou Congost and will try to maintain that level of play both in Gran Canaria this Saturday (at 8:00 PM) and in their final home game (which will now be on Friday, May 29th at 6:00 PM).
Dreamland Gran Canaria's season has likely not gone as the club hoped, as they've found themselves near the bottom of the standings and their inconsistent performance led to a coaching change a few weeks ago, with Néstor 'Che' García replacing Jaka Lakovic. The signing of Chimezie Metu has also given the team a boost in recent games. The Canary Islanders' key players are Isaiah Wong, Nico Brussino, and Mike Tobey. On the bench is a familiar face from Manresa: Eulis Báez, who serves as an assistant coach.
Diego Ocampo said in Friday's pre-game press conference before traveling that "Gran Canaria is clearly improving, they're playing very well; they're a very talented opponent and have made some additions in recent weeks; "They have talent at the point guard and shooting guard positions, Brussino is very complete at the 3 position and capable of scoring from long range... in the interior game they are playing with 'small ball' and it makes them dangerous from the 3 line because they open up the court a lot."
