BAXI Manresa hosts a revamped Burgos side
The Castilians are currently 15th in the standings with 7 wins. This Sunday at 5:00 PM, BAXI Manresa and their fans are preparing for a game in which they hope to continue their winning streak. Neither Benitez nor Brooks will be playing.
BAXI Manresa faces Round 28 of the Liga Endesa against an opponent that has steadily improved throughout the season and is looking to climb out of the bottom of the standings. BAXI Manresa will be without two guards: Benitez and Brooks, but will have the support of the "red tide" in Congost.
With seven league rounds remaining, four of which will be played in Manresa, BAXI Manresa comes into this round with two consecutive victories and a desire to climb the standings. The team recently played a very complete game in Bilbao, winning by four points. This victory, added to their previous win against Joventut Badalona, provides a boost of confidence and momentum for the final stretch. Benitez will remain sidelined with his foot injury, while Eli Brooks will also be unavailable.
Their opponent is a Burgos team that has added players throughout the season to round out its roster and now boasts a very competitive squad. The additions of players like Ethan Happ, Max Heidegger, and Jaden Shackelford, along with the change on the bench, now led by Porfirio Fisac, have given the team a new boost, allowing them to climb out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily.
Ourense coach Diego Ocampo spoke to reporters this Friday and explained that “Burgos has very good one-on-one players and very strong offensively; we will have to execute our basic defensive game plan very well, it will be vital; they signed a couple of American players a few weeks ago who are both very prolific scorers, so we will have to make an effort.”
