Comment by the club regarding Cheersmanresa.

Básquet Manresa, after announcing that the Cheersmanresa animation group would no longer be part of the animation for the matches, wants to detail the reasons for the actions taken, in order to clarify the controversy created in this regard, although the The club's intention has always been to make this change with an eye on professionalizing, modernizing and improving the club that we all love so much.

For more than a year, the club's management has tried to reorient the format of the dances and the animation of the dead times of the matches. The club believes that the "classic" model of cheerleaders is exhausted and needs to be renewed. The rest of the ACB clubs are an example of the above, where the majority have opted for new ways of understanding the animation of the matches. This was communicated to the dance group in several meetings (the first, on August 24, 2023). In that meeting, Cheersmanresa was asked to begin a transition period during the summer and until the beginning of the school year towards a new form of dance for the 2023-24 season, avoiding the "pom-poms" and clothing, object and representative image of the 'cheers' model. It was also requested to diversify the music without falling into stereotypes and musical typologies which, although current, do not represent the values of the club in any way. The intention of the club was to continue with the group that has been performing in the Nou Congost for years and this was conveyed to them at that meeting.

With this intention, 2 meetings were held with the group in August and September 2023. Throughout the 2023-24 season, nothing was changed about the type of dance and animation, despite the club's requests.

Before the start of the current 2024-25 season, the board had another meeting with the dance group, in July. At that same moment, a sample of the tests was requested to be able to assess whether there had been, now yes, an evolution along the lines of what the club asked for a year ago. But until September 24, no videos of the rehearsals were received. In these videos, the group of Cheerleaders had prepared a choreography with the song "Baila Morena", by Hector y Tito. From the board of the club, it was communicated that this song was not aligned with the values of the club and that this dance should not be carried out. Beyond the musical style, the lyrics of this song - and others - are not suitable for the family atmosphere that exists in the Nou Congost stand, a true heritage of the club and a differentiating element compared to many other pavilions. This dance, which had been explicitly asked not to do, was done in the game played on October 2 against Benfica, disregarding the club's instructions.

All of the above justifies the decision to carry out the change in animation and dance model, a decision that is neither a whim nor a hasty one. Despite the obvious disagreement that the dance group has shown both with its performance on October 2 and in the statement it has published, as well as the various videos published on social networks, Básquet Manresa wants the Cheersmanresa group can say goodbye to the Nou Congost public, performing in the BCL match on October 30. The club remains grateful for all the years of dedication of the cheerleaders and wants this final to leave a good memory for everyone.

For the following Endesa League and BCL matches, Básquet Manresa remains committed to improving and diversifying the show and entertainment at the Nou Congost.
