BAXI Manresa will be defendint Lliga Catalana title in Tarragona

The Catalan National League AON 2022 ACB will be held again, 27 years later, in the city of Tarragona. This year, the Palau d'Esports Catalunya in the capital of Tarragona will be the scene, on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 September, of this 43rd edition, corresponding to the 2022-23 season. As in the last campaign, the competition will once again take the format of Final Four (semi-finals and Final) and will feature the participation of BAXI Manresa, Barça, Joventut Badalona and Bàsquet Girona.

The semifinals will be held on Tuesday 20 September (schedule yet to be confirmed) and will face BAXI Manresa against Joventut de Badalona and Barça with Bàsquet Girona. The winners of these matches will qualify to play in the Final, which will take place on Wednesday 21 September. All matches will be broadcast live on Televisió de Catalunya through its Esport3 channel.

The current champion is the team from Manresa, who lifted the title as host in 2021 by beating Barça by 81-70 in the final played at the Pavilló Nou Congost. With this victory, the Bages added their 3rd Catalan League ACB in a championship that dominates, with a total of 22 victories, the Barcelona club. As for the Badalona team, it has 11 crowns, while the Girona squad, which is the current winner of the Catalan League LEB Or, will make its debut in this exciting 43rd edition in the highest category.

The last time the city of Tarragona hosted the competition was in 1995 and with the Serrallo Pavilion as the playing field. On September 3 of that year, FC Barcelona of Aíto García Reneses won the trophy in an exciting match that was resolved by a tight 89-92 against Joventut de Badalona, ​​with Lithuanian winger Arturas Karnisovas decorated as and MVP.
