The Catalan Leagues 2021 have been officially presented this Wednesday, September 1, at an event held at the Antiga Fàbrica Damm in Barcelona.

The Antiga Fàbrica Damm in Barcelona has been the scene, this Wednesday 1 September, of the official presentation of the Catalan National Leagues AON 2021 with the presence of Anna Caula, Secretary General of Sport and Physical Activity of the Generalitat de Catalunya; of Sergio Pérez, Director of the Barcelona Office of AON, main sponsor of the Catalan National Leagues; and Ferran Aril, President of the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCBQ).

The event was also attended by Marc Aloy, Mayor of Manresa, Jordi Sans, Director of the UFEC and Eduard Portela, former President of the ACB, as well as of different directors and managers of the participating clubs. In addition, both Laia Palau, player of Spar Girona, and Pau Ribas, player of Joventut de Badalona, also attended the event in as Ambassadors of FCBQ and Bàsquet Català, and players and players of competing teams such as Pierre Oriola of Barça, Marta Guerrero of the Unilever Viladecans BF, Maria Martiáñez from Lima-Horta Barcelona or Clara López from Basket Almeda, among others.

The presentation started with the delivery of the golden banner of the Catalan Basketball Federation to Gerard Figueras, the former Secretary General of Sport and Physical Activity of the Generalitat of Catalonia, in recognition of President Ferran Aril.

Then, and after the projection of an video-summary introductory of the different competitions of the previous edition, we proceeded to the technical presentation of the Catalan Leagues 2021, detailing the pairings and the list of game calendars and the venues of each of the categories. This year, the Catalan Leagues have the novelty of the Catalan Women's Challenge League, which will live its first edition in the Castell d'en Planes Pavilion in Vic.

The turn of the institutional parliaments began with a first speech by President Aril, who highlighted the good health of Catalan Basketball and highlighted the growth of Women's Basketball. Aril also wanted to acknowledge and thank the support of all institutions, sponsors and the media in promoting the competitions of the Catalan National Leagues 2021 and took the opportunity to encourage spectators to enjoy the Catalan Leagues wishing the return to competitive normalcy.

Next, Sergio Pérez, Director of the Barcelona Office of AON, spoke, highlighting the pride and pleasure of being able to sponsor the Catalan Leagues 2021. Also, Anna Caula, General Secretary of Sport and Physical Activity, has also participated in pointing out the importance of basketball and sport, accentuated during the pandemic era. Caula, who has shown his feeling of gratitude towards Figueras, wanted to highlight the elite sport as the spearhead of a great associative fabric of all the Catalan Basketball. Both Pérez and Caula, in their speeches, thanked the work done by the Federation.

Finally, the Ambassadors of the FCBQ and Bàsquet Català Laia Palau and Pau Ribas have been in charge of closing the parliaments with the will to power. This season, the Catalan National Leagues AON 2021 are made up of a total of 50 participating sets, the highest figure in the history of the competition, corresponding to the categories ACB (4), LF (2), LF Challenge (4), LEB (5), LF2 (7) and EBA (28), distributed throughout Catalonia.

AON, a leading company in global professional services, renews its commitment and expands its agreement with the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCBQ) to support all categories, both female and male, of the Catalan National Leagues. AON has been linked to the competition for 3 seasons and this year will give its name to the official title of the competition 'CATALAN LEAGUES AON 2021' as the main sponsor of the event.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

Within the framework of the Catalan National Leagues AON 2021 of ACB and Women's teams, the FCBQ Technical Committee organizes, in the Vell Congost Sports Complex in Manresa, two face-to-face clinicians as training activities.

The first clinic will take place on Saturday 4 September at 5.30 pm and will be taught by Borja Comenge. The name of the talk will be 'Ideas to attack defensive change'. On the other hand, the second clinic is scheduled for Sunday 12 September at 10 am and will have as speakers Olga Vázquez and Xavi Orois, coaches of the Catalan mini teams that were proclaimed champions of Spain, who will talk about the 'Construction of basic concepts in the mini stage'.
